Our design philosophy is inspired by local precedent

As students of vernacular design, we often employ the sheltering informal shingle-style for water-front homes—cedar-shingled roofs sweeping down over porches or verandas—or, where more generous parcels are available—we love the balanced elegance of Georgian Colonials. Many commissions are additions or renovations, where the goal is to make the resulting composition to feel natural, or organic, as if it was always intended to be that way; and this often involves playing off the original architectural style.
